GOLD FOR BEN AT NATIONALS! Twelve Mount House athletes went to Birmingham last week for the National Prep Schools athletics Championships. They had qualified at the Kelly Trophy earlier this term where the U12 and U14 boys both won their competitions out of some 10 competing teams. The U14 girls came second and the U12 girls third. Ben Clarke went on to             Birmingham and threw over 39m to win the gold medal in the javelin and Jamie Anderson jumped 1m 50 to win the high jump silver medal. THE UK JUNIOR MATHS CHALLENGE 22 Mount House pupils gained certificates in the recent UK junior maths challenge. This competition is aimed at the top third of pupils in the country. Alex Ferguson, Oliver Rose, Ben Clarke, Luke Measelle and Tom Jackman all gained gold certificates putting them in top 2% of the country. Details are on the Mount House website.

MARINA WINS HEADMASTER’S PRIZE                                                 Congratulations to all the prizewinners at   Friday’s end-of-term    assembly. Prizes are awarded for academic progress, effort, sport, music, drama and art. The most important prize, the Headmaster’s prize, for contribution to the School community went to Marina Carrick for her unfailing      positive influence on all those around her. FOREST SCHOOL FOR PRE-PREP                                                                            The pre-prep spent a week this term having all their lessons outdoors. They learnt about the natural environment, problem solving and how to handle risk. Activities included foraging, collage making, stream dipping, cooking outdoors, art, Moorland Safety, camouflage, Moorland Myths and Legends and shelter building.                                         

SENIOR MUSICIANS AT LAMERTON CHURCH             The musicians, many performing at grade 6 or above, helped to raise over £550 for the church. Meg and Gemma are pictured playing variations based on    Paganini’s ‘24th Caprice’
